Today I'm going to talk about what it takes to work from home so that you can become a financially independent woman. Let me first dispense of all of those beautiful images that are thrown at you by work from home scammers on late night television and online ads. It's not about putting in a few hours and then kicking back for the rest of the day. However, I'm guessing that you probably already have realized that since you are on my site reading about what this all REALLY means.
Working from home is not for everyone. It takes a lot of self-discipline and perseverance. You have to be organized and motivated to be able to do this. You must be able to juggle and multitask. To get ahead, you have to always be willing to take on something new and go to the next level. Be willing to constantly be reinventing your business model if that's what it takes. Note: This is not just showing up at a job, putting in your eight hours, going home and collecting a paycheck from it. If that's what you're looking for, then you've come to the wrong place.
Female entrepreneurs have to put in some serious work. It will be way harder than any other job you've ever had, but it's totally worth it in the long run. Having your own business allows you to put yourself into your work and have it actually mean something and it also means that you are in control of how much money you make.
Making a work schedule for yourself definitely helps. And if you have little ones at home (like me), then it's imperative you schedule some playtime in there too and find ways to entertain your kids while you're working - educational games and art time works great for my two year old. Rising early and staying up late aren't always fun, but sometimes it's the only way.
You have to learn to thrive under chaos. This especially applies to work at home moms. The only way to do this is to be able to focus even when your kids are happily laughing in the background or playing a toy piano or even when Sesame Street is blaring on the t.v. Mastering this may take a little bit of time, but it can most definitely be done. If you don't figure this one out, you will never be able to get anything done.
Make sure to check back in soon. Next time I'm going to be discussing ways to start making your own money and working from home.
